Overview of College Basketball

College basketball is something that is watched all across America and the NCAA is making large amounts of money due to the success of college basketball. The month of march itself has in a way been adopted by the NCAA by naming their basketball tournament, March Madness. During the month of March and some of April, the top seeds of college basketball battle it out in a bracket type of tournament. People who do not even watch college basketball make their own March Madness brackets trying to predict all the correct outcomes of the games. Millions of people world wide tune in to watch all of the games being played. From March Madness itself, the NCAA rakes in billions of dollars from the TV ratings, ticket sales and merchandise sales. March Madness is without a doubt one of the most popular sporting events of the year. What makes everything even better for the NCAA is that to be in March Madness you have to actually be a good team which means all the top talents will be in the tournament. Everyone is raving over the top talents and love to watch them go head to head.

While the NCAA is profiting from the sport, the student athletes themselves are getting none of the money. Yes, that's right, the people that are going out sacrificing their time and health are getting absolutely none of the money. For some, this is morally wrong and should be changed but for others this rule is perfect. The coaches of the sport actually do get paid, but the players that go out and make the coach look good get nothing.
