A Brief Overview of College Football

Football, America's sport. Football is by a large margin the most watched sport in America. College football is the most popular college sport played. Some people actually prefer watching college football over watching the NFL. The atmosphere in the arena of a college football game is what people describe to be "indescribable." Millions of dollars is being made by the NCAA due to the large success of college football. Millions of people across America tune in every Saturday to watch their favorite teams battle it out on the gridiron. Bowl games and the National Championship is the ¨bread and butter¨ as they rake in the most money for the NCAA. Companies sponsor the bowls game for publicity. College football is watched all across America and the fans are crazy about their teams they support. Hours before games fans will do a normal festivity called "tailgating." Where people gather by their cars before games and make food and listen to music. College football has its own identity.

Just like college basketball, college football players receive none of the income that is being raked in by the colleges. This can be even more of a controversy due to the violent nature of the sport and how injuries happen on what feels like every other play. Not every play is guaranteed for a football player. They have made rules to make the game less violent and soften up when it comes to the quarterback, but football is still a very violent sport. Just one wrong tweak to the leg or one wrong hit to the head could be catastrophic for the remainder of your life. It would make sense in thinking that college football players should be paid, but the rules say otherwise. They do have their reasons for not giving them payment though.
